Bartin Governor Nusret Dirim Conducts Inspections at Kirazlikopru Dam Site

Bartin Governor Nusret Dirim, accompanied by Provincial Special Administration Secretary General Ibrahim Kayis and the delegation, visited the Kirazlikopru Dam construction site and inspected the ongoing construction works on-site.
Project Presentation by DSI
DSI 233rd Branch Manager Sancar Bicer, who delivered a detailed presentation on the project to Governor Dirim at the construction site, stated that the Kirazlikopru Dam, being constructed on the Bartin River Gokirmak, has been designed as a multi-purpose facility for irrigation, energy production, and flood protection. Bicer indicated that the physical completion rate of the dam has reached 52 percent and that completion is targeted by the end of 2017, sharing the technical details of the project.
Technical Data and Economic Contribution
According to the information provided by DSI 233rd Branch Manager Sancar Bicer, the Kirazlikopru Dam with a storage capacity of 66.19 million cubic meters will irrigate approximately 31,000 decares of agricultural land with a modern irrigation system, and the province of Bartin will be protected against flood damage.
Upon commissioning of the dam, 41 million kilowatt-hours of energy will be generated annually through the hydroelectric power plant with an installed capacity of 12.3 MW. With the transition to irrigated agriculture, an income increase of TRY 301 per decare will be achieved, contributing approximately TRY 25 million to the national economy, while also creating employment opportunities for 3,100 people in the region.
