AK Party Bartin Member of Parliament Yilmaz Tunc announced that the Kirazlikopru Dam, which will protect Bartin from flood risk while also meeting energy production and agricultural irrigation needs, has reached the completion stage. Tunc conducted inspections at the dam construction site and received detailed information from company officials on the ongoing works.
Multi-Purpose Strategic Investment
With a height of 72.5 meters from the foundation, Kirazlikopru Dam has been designed primarily for the protection of the province of Bartin against flood risk. In addition to its flood protection function, the dam is a comprehensive infrastructure investment that will provide significant contributions to the regional economy in the areas of irrigation and energy production.
Technical Data and Targets
In his statement to journalists, MP Tunc shared the technical details of the project. Accordingly, Kirazlikopru Dam will enable the irrigation of 30,960 decares of agricultural land and will have a water storage capacity of 66 million cubic meters. The hydroelectric power plant with an installed capacity of 12.3 MW within the dam will generate 41 million kilowatt-hours of renewable energy annually.
Construction Progress
Tunc stated that the dam body construction and highway transition works are continuing at full pace, and that all construction works are planned to be completed by November 21. It was emphasized that upon completion of the project, Bartin and its surrounding districts will achieve a significant gain in terms of both flood safety and agricultural development.
